The bright colours won't attract new members, believe me. Especially not light blue and grey. What were you thinking! It's pretty much disgusting. Encryptedwrath has had experience in designing for forums and he said it works. Actually, doll, the gray and the blue look beautiful together. Why do you think I joined the site? The layout caught my eye. Now, his board organization could use some improvement, but this is a young site and I think that as it grows it'll get better. What do you mean the board organization?

Trust me, it works.
I'm Jazzy, from Writer's Haven. I decided to join your site mainly because the bright colors caught my attention.
By board organization I mean how you have your site layed out. I'm posting a reply to your thread about it on WH.

Overall: You should get a chatbox (because those have been a must on almost all of the boards I'm on.) It also tends to pull attention to your site and give members an easy way to communicate and meet new members. I LOVE your layout. It's simple, yet bold, and very easy to read. Make sure for the people that don't like it there are plenty of equally awesome layouts available. (For that you'll need a graphics administrator. That could be you or someone else.) Rules/information I suggest separating "Rules and Suggestions" and make them two different boards... maybe. (Make sure to have a board for information as well. That could go with rules or in a board of it's own.) Title this board general instead and stick advertisements and random stuff there (title random stuff "Fun" instead... it looks less messy. Under fun you'll want several sub-boards (look at our site to see what I'm talking about.) Writing category: You spelled competition wrong on that board title. This is a "no-no" for an admin (you're lucky it's me telling you, LW would rip you limb from limb ) Change Writing to Fiction. Under fiction put several sub-categories (one for each genre). Then make a non-fiction board and do the same. General Change anything serious to debate. Anything serious sounds disorganized and will make viewers not want to be there. Change the title to miscellaneous. And I suggest putting "Artwork" on there- that board draws a lot of traffic here. Finally, add an rp category. Role playing is writing too, and having a category just for it will bring all of the serious rpers as well as the writers into your site.

But then if I did all those things wouldn't it be the exact same as The Writers Haven?

No problem. hehe... not EXACTLY the same. You'd also be somewhat like this (keep in mind that it was a very active, functioning site with lots of happy members, just like Writer's Haven) writersdominion.proboards84.comBoth sites are (or in WD's case were) very active and attract lots of new members everyday.

Maybe there could be a sub-board//board for help with planning and ideas.

I was thinking about that yesterday and I think it's quite a godd idea, a sub board in fiction for planning, ideas and questions.
