We have 12A, which is the same, but 12 not 14. Our ratings go U - PG (parent guidance) - 12A -15 - 18. But there's sexualising in PG films as well now. :/ To be honest, the distinction between the ratings is blurred these days. I've seen 12 films that are worse than 15 ones. I've also seen a whole host of 15s that are worse than 18s. I'm not doubting this, in fact I agree with it, but examples?

theres 2 issues in deciding whats a 'proper' age first one is physical maturity you dont want kids who arent properly mature being forced into relationships before their bodies are developed so it hurts them the other issue is emotional maturity being able to cope with the realtionship and accept the consequences of it age of consent laws try top look at both... The thing is though, how many people under-age know the law? I imagine about 50% do. And how many would ignore it if the opputinity came along? I think you would be looking at 99% ! The law is there to stop rape more than anything else I think. And also how do people know how mature they are? And would this stop them having sex, if they meet a girl who is willing to have sex with them then I don't think this would stop them. In conclusion there is no way anybody can stop underage sex these days so the best option is just to pursuade people to use a condom to stop STD's and under age pregnancy.
