Exactly, what we need is a way for this place to be more active. Just asking people isn't working anymore.

I'm all ears Ben. If you have any suggestions I'd love to hear them, instead of just saying, "this place needs to be more active."

Ok, my main idea. You're not gonna like it but; Delete all the boards. We have 3 categorys, with one board in each. One for 'Rules', one for 'Writing' and one for *shiver* 'Random Messages and Chat'. That's my idea, start small. Worry about growing when we have more than 10 active members.

Hold on Doomsday - there will be something catering for debates and serious discussion, will there not? Like, philosophy and current affairs and things?

But we have more than ten active members, there's been 15 members online in the last day and around 30 in the last weeks of different people and that's not bad for a forum our size. I really don't understand this negativity from you all the time, we're not doing that badly yet you think we're going to die any minute unless something drastic is done. No, terrible idea.

^This.
If you delete a ton of boards people are even less likely to join or post. Forums that look fuller with more variety are more attractive, so long as it doesn't go OTT.
Maybe something more simple like a contest =P

Ok, scrap the idea of 3 boards, but get rid of all the unecessary boards. We need to make this place different to the others. There's so many forums out there now, and most of them look the same, modelled on *shiver* CF. If this is a Writers Forum, involve more writing and debates. And for goodness sake get rid of the bloody older members section, as most of you know, its pointless.

I disagree that we are modelled on CF. It is inevitable that all forums will have similar general boards. Also, what exactly is wrong with CF? It is one of the most successful forums on the whole of ProBoards. I agree with EI that you seem to have gone really negative all of a sudden for no reason at all.

Hahaha, what's wrong with CF? - I could go on, it's just, as I saw quite recently on a thread, this is, at the end of the day 'another CF forum that you have to join'. If we're not careful it'll always be that way. People will join because they feel they're helping you out, then they'll never be active. And I've gone all negative 'cos I'm trying to help you out, you just don't seem to want to here it, thinking that you're 100% right and much superior to everybody 'cos you made this place.

Unfortunately that might be because your suggestions wouldn't lead to anything beneficial. The amount of boards this forum has is actually pretty good. There isn't an overwhelming amount but it doesn't look bare. Taking away boards would limit places for posting things, either in writing making things messy, or in general chat not appearing to supply variety.
If anything it'd be better to add boards for surface appearance rather than get rid of them.
