Well... the doctor called and I picked up... I disagree with abortions actually, the baby should be given to a loving family.

I apologise for being a thread necromancer, I intended to post this thread anyway, but this one was here already. XD.
I think that if two teenagers have consensual sex and the girl gets impregnated as a result, then it is tough look. Even with all of the contraception known to man accidents happen. No method of contraception is fool proof and by having sex you are signing up for all the baggage (be it STI's, or pregnancy) that follows.
If the couple aren't willing to look after the child then they should give it up for adoption. While I believe that the description given in Juno was a little simplistic, it is the best option all around. If the girls life is at risk, then by all means have an abortion. The girls life is more important than a foetus, however that does not mean that she has the right to kill a foetus just because she is too lazy to carry a child for nine months, or does not want the stress of fessing up to her parents. Sorry kids, if you don't want it, don't have sex.
And a note to guys: You also have your responsibilities. It is immoral to desert the girl, and up until the child is born you have to do everything you can to look after that girl. After the child is born, if the girl decides to keep it, then you should get yourself a job and pay your share. It takes two to tango.

I think that although it may be hard going through pregnancy as a teen (I can't imagine me or any of my friends being pregnant at our age!) however I agree that if you can't go through pregnancy, don't have sex until you're older. I disagree with abortion, unless having the baby will severely harm the mother, or if the baby will be born with such severe disabilities it will die at birth, or straight after birth, as this can cause even more emotional stress to the mum. If teenagers do decide to keep the baby, the fathers should definitely be a part of the babies life, and if the person isn't prepared to look after a baby, the baby should be given up for adoption.

I think if you're so irresponsible to have sex unprotected, you're likely to be too irresponsible to raise a child.
A kid is very expensive but I believe it should be given up for adoption before abortion. I think abortions should only be done under rare circumstances, like as irishkid said the mother could die or they find it absolutely impossible for someone to take the child.

I think if you're so irresponsible to have sex unprotected, you're likely to be too irresponsible to raise a child. not every pregnancy comes from unprotected sex, sometimes contraception fails. I think abortions should only be done under rare circumstances, like as irishkid said they find it absolutely impossible for someone to take the child. that is very unlikely, as so many people want to adopt babies, it's only older children who are less likely to be adopted.

The problem is that there are so many factors to consider in an abortion, and debates can often make it seem clean cut when it isn't.
Firstly - I don't agree with abortion, I couldn't go through with it if I ever got pregnant by accident, but I accept that it does happen and in some situations should.
The problem is you can't grant abortions to some people and not to others. Doing it on a one by one basis isn't viable, so you need blanket abortions. Because of this you do get people using it as a form of contraception, but this isn't the vast majority.
Put it this way, there are already tons of children up for adoptions, and for some cases saying that adoption is the better option is actually wrong. For example:
Rape - looking after and giving birth to a baby brought on by a violent traumatic event is going to be more stressful and debilatating than abortion. Especially if this is a child, although I've managed this seperately.
Child - the younger the child the more issues. Not just phsyically but mentally. Education, peer mockery, etc etc. If the child was raped, it is impossible to consider that it would be in her best interest, if she could have problems if forced to carry through the birth, if the baby will have problems because of the child carrying it, if the child either aborts or keeps (there is a strong attachment when carrying a child making it impossible to give it up at times - if one is forced to put it up for adoption it can lead to metal/emotional issues.)
This is a little mumbled, sorry 'bout that.
I am however going to argue that teens should be allowed to abort.
